Teresa Lopez-Leon, a specialist in liquid crystals, has just received the "Mid Career Award" from the International Liquid Crystal Society (ILCS) in Lisbon. Teresa Lopez-Leon is a CNRS researcher at the Gulliver Laboratory at ESPCI and is particularly interested in the topological defects that appear on the shells of liquid crystals. The researcher and her team are trying to anticipate and understand how they form, in order to produce new materials/metamaterials!
Through this award, the International Liquid Crystals Society wanted to salute the "pioneering contributions to the physics of liquid crystal shells".
