For you, we asked Lucie Ryes, winner of the 2023 Falling Walls Lab edition, a few questions about her experience:
1. You participated in the Falling Walls Lab finale in Paris in September 2023 and won. You were able to represent France in Berlin at the international Falling Walls Lab finale on November 7. Tell us a little about your experience.
Participating in the Falling Walls Lab finale in Paris and representing France in Berlin was an incredible experience. The competition in Paris was already very stimulating, but the international finale in Berlin was truly a highlight. Being surrounded by so many brilliant minds and innovators from around the world inspired and motivated me to go further in my project. Berlin was a perfect platform to present our work on the international stage and receive valuable feedback.
2. What was it like to pitch your project there?
Pitching my project in Berlin was an extremely enriching experience. I had the chance to access a personalized support and preparation program, with experts in public communication, popularization, and entrepreneurial follow-up from the Falling Walls Lab Paris organizing team. This preparation for a 3-minute pitch in English taught me how to effectively synthesize and convey short and relevant messages. It not only helped me refine my pitch but also gave me lasting communication skills. The pitch was then a superb experience to spread our project and the event’s communication tools still have a significant leverage effect today.
3. What did your presence at the grand Falling Walls day on November 9 bring you?
The grand Falling Walls day on November 9 was extremely beneficial. I was able to make valuable contacts, meet investors with whom I am still in touch, and get inspired by other participants and speakers. Participating in various conferences and discussions allowed me to expand my international network and strengthen my entrepreneurial skills. This day also brought significant visibility to our project, opening new collaboration opportunities.
4. What advice would you give to those who want to apply for the Parisian finale in 2024?
I would advise everyone who is considering applying for the 2024 Parisian finale not to hesitate. It is an invaluable opportunity to meet inspiring people, learn new skills, test your ideas, and refine your entrepreneurial project. The experience and network you build will be precious assets for your journey.
